Teaching Experience
I’ve taught undergraduate and graduate classes in English and Women’s Studies at the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Hampden-Sydney College, and St. Norbert College. My semesters often included the introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies; British literature surveys; seminars on the novel, literary theory, or queer literature; and first-year seminars for non-majors. One of my joys in all these courses has designing assessments that allow students to practice thinking and writing about literature in a variety of modes. Recently, my students have taken collaborative exams, designed public history exhibits, created zines, adapted a course text by changing key narrative features, and designed audience education materials for a hypothetical production of a stage play.
I have been gratified to receive the Rackham Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award and the David and Linda Moscow Prize for Excellence in Teaching Composition.

Teaching Futures: A newsletter sharing insights and reflections from my time in the classroom.
Guide to Inclusive Teaching: This collaborative resource was developed by facilitators in the Inclusive Teaching Network, in consultation with University of Michigan's Center for Research on Learning and Teaching.
Accessibility Statement: I’ve developed this accessibility statement with input from colleagues in the Inclusive Teaching Network. I place this statement on all my course syllabi (right beneath the course description) to signal to students my intention to make access a key goal for the course.
Self-Assessment in Participation: This is a mid-semester and end-of-semester tool that I’ve created to gather feedback from students while also encouraging them to reflect on obstacles, strategies, and goals in course engagement.
